DDoS - September 14, 2020

This week in ISM I completed my second Research Assessment as well as hosted a “fashion show”. For my Assessment I looked for a potential topic for my original work proposal and decided to pick a cyber threat. This time it was about DDoS attacks. I learnt a lot of information about DDoS attacks and possible ways to mitigate that threat, however I had much to improve in my Assessment. While I covered the topic well, I wasn’t inquisitive enough and didn’t cultivate higher thinking skills. In the future I will strive to think of how to implement the knowledge or give my own unique twist. I can for example think of a security structure to prevent DDoS attacks in my company. I can also come up with contingency plans and propose amendments to company policies.

As for the “fashion show”, I had to dress up in full formal attire and film a full body shot (front, sides, and back) of myself and submit the video in order to get it approved for the professional setting. Dressing up was not unusual since I am used to wearing the whole suit due to being a part of the AcDec program for the 4th year. It was a unique experience modeling the suit and walking down a model “runway”.

I hope to invest more in my research and hopefully start reaching out to mentors!
