The sails have unfurled and the ship of research effortlessly cuts through the challenges like a hot knife slices through melting butter. So far, the journey of ISM has started out with smooth sailing, and hopefully I am prepared for stormy nights and rough waters that are sure to come later on in the year. I don’t use social media so making a LinkedIn profile was a new experience for me. It was exciting to add a lot of information, create a profile, and start connecting with other people. I look forward to expanding my professional network and I will look out for opportunities to update my LinkedIn profile with relevant information. As the president of the school chess club, I created a website over the summer so I had some practice in website building before ISM started. Creating a website for ISM did, however, present me with the challenge of using a color scheme that not only complemented each other, but also symbolized my research topic. For the back ground of the website I used a style referencing the iconic Matrix and for spaces with content I used blue or purple boxes. The color blue is typically used to represent technology. My research assessment numero uno gave a unique perspective. Instead of a typical analytical essay written from a third person point of view, I had to write about my thoughts in first person. Although it felt odd, thankfully the shift was relatively easy. I can’t wait to start meeting up with mentors and getting to know them.
